Features

Everything your NGO's website runs on

Grouped by what your team does, from publishing stories to receiving donations.

A website that tells your story

Build your homepage from ready-made sections, write pages and stories, and organise everything with a clear menu that works beautifully on phones.

  • Homepage builder

15 ready-made section types: showcase (live activity), fresh from the field, hero banner, page content, text block, image with text, mission and vision, impact numbers, photo gallery, videos, news and stories, donation campaigns, testimonials, contact and call to action.

  • Pages and stories

Pages and news or stories, with categories, featured images, tags and scheduled publishing.

  • Menus and search

A mega menu on desktop, a slide-in menu on phones, and site search.

  • Page templates

Standard, full width, contact (with form) and donation (with the donation form).

  • Search engine basics

Sitemap, RSS feed, clean addresses, social sharing previews and a manager for permanent redirects, so old addresses keep working.

Secure online donations and receipts

Run campaigns with goals and suggested amounts. Donors pay on the payment provider's secure page and get a receipt by email.

  • Campaigns

Donation campaigns with goals, progress and suggested amounts.

  • Payments

UPI, cards and net banking through PayU, Razorpay or Instamojo, plus bank transfer or cheque. Card and bank details are entered on the payment provider's page, never on the NGO's website.

  • Receipts

Numbered donation receipts for each financial year. The 80G statement appears on receipts once the NGO has entered and verified its 80G details.

  • Emails

A thank-you email to the donor with the receipt link, and a notice to the NGO's team.

  • Records and reports

Record bank transfers, refunds and cancellations, see reports with charts for each financial year, and export donations as CSV.

Photos and videos from the field

Keep photo albums, also from Flickr, and show your YouTube videos. New uploads can appear on your website automatically.

  • Media library

    Large photos are resized automatically.

  • Photo albums

Albums of your work, including import from Flickr.

  • Videos

Videos from a YouTube channel or playlist, refreshed daily; new uploads can appear on the website automatically.

Simple for your team, safe for your data

Everyone gets their own account and only the access they need. Important actions are recorded, and strong security protects your website and your donors.

  • Accounts and roles

Separate accounts with roles (Administrator, Editor, Author, Finance manager) and adjustable permissions.

  • Audit log and status

A log of important actions, a system status page and password reset by email.

  • Security

Strong password storage, account lockout after repeated failed sign-ins, and strict browser security rules (Content Security Policy).

  • No tracking

No tracking or advertising scripts. The only outside scripts are the payment provider's checkout and the optional Cloudflare bot check, when switched on.

  • Contact form

Spam protection with a hidden trap field, rate limiting and optional Cloudflare Turnstile.

Your look, your way

Your logo, colours and footer. With the Advanced panel, designers can add their own HTML, CSS and JavaScript to any page.

  • Branding

Logo, colours, three themes (default, warm and high contrast), a footer with link columns and social media icons.

  • Advanced panel

With a valid licence: write a page or post in your own HTML, add CSS and JavaScript per page, and footer HTML plus site-wide CSS and JavaScript, in a built-in code editor with colour-coding and line numbers.

How it works

Three steps from a conversation to a website your team runs.

  • 1. Talk to us

Tell us about your organisation and website.

  • 2. We set it up

Your domain, branding and content, including moving from WordPress if needed.

  • 3. You run it

Your team publishes and receives donations, with updates and support from PrajnaBytes as agreed in your licence.

Requirements

NGO Dost runs on ordinary shared hosting; no special server software is needed.

  • Server

PHP 8.5.12 or later, and MariaDB or MySQL.

  • Self-contained

The website's own scripts, styles and icons are served from the NGO's own server, with no outside CDNs.

Questions NGOs ask

Short answers to the questions we hear most.

  • Is NGO Dost free?

No. NGO Dost is licensed per organisation as a yearly subscription. Ask us for pricing.

  • Which payment providers can we use?

PayU, Razorpay or Instamojo for UPI, cards and net banking, plus bank transfer or cheque.

  • Do donors get receipts?

Yes. Receipts are numbered per financial year and emailed to the donor. The 80G statement appears once your organisation has entered and verified its 80G details.

  • Can we move our existing WordPress website?

Yes. Pages, stories, photos and donation history can be imported, and old addresses keep working.

  • Do we need technical staff?

No. The admin is written in plain language. Designers can use the Advanced panel if you want a fully custom look.

  • Where is our data?

On your own hosting. Your content and donor records belong to your organisation.

Moving from WordPress?

NGO Dost brings over your pages, stories, photos and donation history, keeps your old story addresses, and redirects the rest, so your visitors and search engines do not lose you.

What comes across

  • Pages and posts
  • Media
  • Donation history
  • Old post addresses kept
  • Other old addresses redirected

Content can be imported from a WordPress export file or database, and a clean-up tool removes old plugin leftovers.
