PDF DSC-TSA Bulk Signer · Document signing
Visible stamps on every page. One signature for the whole document.
Choose where a stamp should appear on each page and how the document is secured. PDF DSC-TSA Bulk Signer stamps the pages, signs or seals the file once, and checks the result before it is saved.
Version 2.0 availableFree and open source (GNU GPL v3.0 or later), for Windows, Linux and macOS. Customised desktop or web versions on request.
How PDF DSC-TSA Bulk Signer is sold
Open source, for the community
Released as free software, so anyone can use, study, share and improve it under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. There is no licence fee.
Works on your computer
Documents are not uploaded anywhere. Only the document fingerprint is sent to a timestamp authority, when you use one.
Checked before it is saved
The signature or seal is verified before the signed copy is saved, and your original PDF is never changed.
Customisation on request
Need it adapted to your workflow? We customise it as a desktop application or build it into a web application for you.
Product overview
What PDF DSC-TSA Bulk Signer does
PDF DSC-TSA Bulk Signer is a desktop application for advocates, firms, offices and other professionals who need a visible signature mark on many pages of a PDF. It is developed by PrajnaBytes International Private Limited | RatioJuris and released as open-source software for the community: anyone may download, use, study and improve it.
Version 2.0 is built and tested on Windows 11 (64-bit), including signing with a real DSC on a USB token. Packages for Linux and macOS are built, installed and started by automated tests; signing with a real DSC token on Linux or macOS has not been verified yet.
- Two ways to secure a PDF
- A DSC signature from your certificate, or an RFC 3161 timestamp seal with a declared name when you have no DSC.
- Stamps where you need them
- Draw stamp areas on a page preview, or place one and repeat it on every page at the same edge.
- Your own stamp designs
- Built-in Standard and Classic designs, or your own template, signature image, ink colour, border and date format.
- Trusted timestamps
- DigiCert, Sectigo, GlobalSign, SSL.com or Entrust, with every timestamp response checked before use.
- Document permissions
- Optionally restrict editing, copying and printing of PDFs that are not already signed.
- A clear certificate list
- Only personal document-signing certificates are listed; expired ones and unplugged tokens are shown with the reason.

Features
What it does, and what it does not
Capabilities, requirements and limits, as documented for version 2.0.
Two ways to secure a document
Pick a method for each document. The stamp wording always matches what the method proves.
Digital signature (DSC)
Needs a DSC in your Windows account, for example on a USB token. One invisible signature from your certificate secures the PDF, optionally with a trusted timestamp. The stamp reads "Digitally signed by" and the certificate name. It proves who signed, and that the document has not changed.
Timestamp seal (no DSC)
Needs a name to declare and an internet connection. One RFC 3161 document timestamp secures the PDF. The stamp reads "Declared by" your name and "Sealed by" the authority's trusted timestamp. It proves that the document has not changed since sealing.
A timestamp seal never claims to be a personal signature: the declared name is shown as declared, and no certificate verifies it.
Stamps where you need them
Place stamps on a preview of the real pages; each box shows the actual stamp.
Draw and adjust
Draw stamp areas directly on a page preview, then move or resize them, with undo and redo.
Repeat on all pages
Copies a stamp to every page and keeps it at the same edge, so a bottom-right stamp stays bottom-right on pages of other sizes or orientations.
Large documents
Zoom from 25% to 400%, pan, and page through documents of up to 10,000 pages.
Stamp designs
Use a built-in design or create your own; the preview shows the result as you edit.
Standard and Classic
Two built-in designs: bordered text, or the familiar two columns with the signer's name large on the left and the details on the right.
Your own templates
Write your own stamp text with fields for name, reason, location, date, certificate issuer, timestamp authority and page numbers.
Signature image and style
Add your own signature image (PNG, JPEG, GIF or BMP), and choose the ink colour, border and date format.
Hindi and Devanagari
Hindi and other Devanagari text is shaped correctly on stamps.
Timestamps, permissions and certificates
The details stored in the PDF, the stamp appearance and the optional restrictions are set on one screen.
Checked timestamps
Every timestamp response is checked before use: the request nonce and document fingerprint, the authority's signature, its timestamping certificate, and its certificate chain to a root trusted by Windows.
Document permissions
For PDFs that are not already signed, restrict editing, content copying and printing before the document is secured. These restrictions are enforced by PDF reader software and cannot be removed afterwards.
Certificate list
Windows device keys and work or school account certificates are hidden. A DSC becomes available within seconds of inserting its token.
How it works
Six steps from an original PDF to a signed copy saved next to it.
1. Import a PDF
The application copies it into its own workspace; your original file is only read.
2. Choose the signing method
Your DSC, or a timestamp seal with a declared name.
3. Add details
Reason, location and, optionally, a timestamp authority.
4. Place stamps
On the pages you need, or place one and repeat it on all pages.
5. Pick a stamp design
Or create your own.
6. Sign or seal
The pages are stamped, the file is secured once and the result is verified. You choose where to save the signed PDF, starting in your original's folder.
System requirements
Everything needed to run it is included in the download.
Windows
64-bit (x64). Built and tested on Windows 11 Pro; other Windows versions have not been tested yet. The installer installs for all users and asks for administrator approval once; the portable version needs no installation and no administrator rights.
Linux and macOS
Packages for Linux (x64, arm64) and macOS (Apple silicon, Intel) are built, installed and started by automated tests. Signing with a real DSC token on Linux or macOS has not been verified.
For DSC signing
A DSC available in your Windows account, for example through your USB token's driver. Tested with a HyperPKI HYP2003 USB token and a Verasys-issued DSC on Windows 11; the token's own PIN window is used.
For timestamps
An internet connection.
Limits and resources
PDFs up to 256 MiB and 10,000 pages, with up to 10,000 stamps. About 90 MB of disk space and about 180 MB of memory when idle; large PDFs need more.
Product and supplier names describe what version 2.0 was tested with; they are not endorsements.
Security and signing notes
What the signature format covers, and what it does not.
Signature format
A CMS (PKCS #7) detached signature. Certificate validity, key usage and the chain to a Windows-trusted root are checked, but online revocation status (OCSP/CRL) is not checked, and the output is not PAdES long-term-validation (LTV) enabled.
Signed PDFs
Already-signed PDFs are updated incrementally, so earlier signatures remain valid. Certified PDFs, PDFs with signature transform restrictions and encrypted PDFs are rejected rather than rewritten.
Stamp text
Drawn as vector shapes, so it is not searchable or selectable in the PDF.
PIN prompts
Your DSC token software may ask for its PIN; this is not a Windows administrator prompt.
Whether a particular authority accepts a DSC-signed or timestamp-sealed document is decided by that authority.
Open and verifiable downloads
The complete source code is public, and every release lists SHA-256 checksums (SHA256SUMS.txt) so you can confirm that your download is genuine.
Windows
An installer (.msi, installs for all users and replaces version 1.0) or a portable .zip.
Linux and macOS
.deb and .tar.gz packages for Linux, and .dmg packages for macOS.
First start on Windows
The application is not signed with a commercial code-signing certificate, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
First start on macOS
Try to open the application once, then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the message, and confirm. On macOS 14 and older, right-click the application and choose Open.
